I've had a break for a while, as I've been busy at work and haven't had much time to look at the things for some time... I'm determined to get back on track this week, taking up where I left off at thing 7.
I am a member of CILIP and have been since I studied for my professional qualification. I can't say I'm involved to a huge degree, but it is really useful to be a member. I have attended several conferences, which are always great to attend as I enjoy meeting people and hearing their stories and experiences (sometimes I talk about work too! ;o) ) The CILIP update is really great, especially as I get it at home, so I can take some time to read it. I am also a member of a few special interest groups.
I am signed up to a number of JiscM@ail lists; they are incredibly useful way of listening in and contributing to discussions, as well as hearing about events. It's how I found out about a group that's being started for cataloguers working in libraries throughout Wales - the initial meeting of the group is being held in March. I'm looking forward to meeting up with fellow cataloguers and hearing about their roles and experiences.
See you next week for thing 8!!
